CLD635A is a USB Type-C active optical cable, capable of handling DisplayPort Alt Mode signals. This allows your USB Type-C DisplayPort Alt supporting source device directly to a display device with a USB Type-C input connection. These slimline cables can go up to 4K@60Hz with a bandwidth of 21.6 Gbps. Due to its Hybrid (fiber and copper) active optical cable, it has superior performance in speed as well as distance.
As the CLD635A is a Hybrid (fiber and copper) active optical cable it has superior performance in speed as well as distance. The cable doesn’t require any additional power supplies, and the compact construction with high-quality finishing and Low Smoke & Halogen-free outer jacket makes it suitable for AV integration in permanent installations. The supporting features are including HDCP and EDID.
HDCP (High Definition Copy Protection) is developed to prevent illegal copying of digital media files. It ensures that the source and other devices are authorized and protected against illegal copying. HDCP is necessary if you want to stream Netflix, Blu-Ray players and receivers such as 4K TVs and 4K monitors. The EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) emulator solves video communication problems that can arise between your HDMI video source and display. EDID contains important information that your TV or projector needs to deliver the best picture quality and above all it's easy to install.
So shortly it means that the digital audio and video content sent over DVI, DisplayPort or HDMI connections are protected.
